The staff of the JGCP fluctuates from 67 to 70 persons from several academic levels, including approximately 20 graduate students from the University of Kansas who serve as research assistants supported by grant funding (including tuition) and who complete their training and research under the direction of JGCP Faculty/Staff.  The staff is diverse in gender, race, nationality, language, and culture.  For example, we currently have permanent staff from Malaysia, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile.  Graduate students hail from as far away as Korea and Australia as well as from across all parts of the United States.  Some of our staff are from Northeast KC and Wyandotte County and others live in the surrounding KC metropolitan area.  Many of the staff are at senior levels as employees of KU in that they have 10, 20, and 30 or more year’s seniority.  Juniper Gardens is an excellent example how diversity and a common mission and goal creates an effective partnership of focus driven research and collegiality.

  • Graduate Research Assistant: We are seeking a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) to work 40% FTE (16 hours per week) for the next year of the Bridging the Word Gap (BWG) Research Network project (1 year). The GRA will work under the guidance of the Project Co-Principal Investigators and the Project Coordinator to plan and create materials to implement a language intervention study in multiple sectors in the community. The GRA will regularly attend project meetings and will be responsible primarily for assisting with BWG-related intervention studies.   The GRA will also be available to the Executive Team to assist in completion of project-specific tasks.   • Research Project Coordinator: The KU Life Span Institute at Juniper Gardens is seeking to hire a Research Project Coordinator to manage early childhood research and development activities. The coordinator will monitor and support research and development activities, ensuring that projects achieve milestones on time.
